The line was developed for studying seed biochemistry and breeding hybrids with improved oil composition. The main feature of the material is a high stearic acid content in the seeds, reaching 25–28%.
CAS 3 is not a variety for mass agricultural production and does not possess a standard description of agronomic traits, such as plant height, maturity dates, or disease resistance. Studies of the mutant's vegetative tissues did not reveal significant deviations from control samples.
