The variety is an open-pollinated oil sunflower. Unlike modern hybrids, the plant possesses the property of self-incompatibility and requires insect pollination to form fully developed seeds.
In scientific literature, the variety is known as a standard for susceptibility to downy mildew. When conducting tests for resistance to this pathogen, it demonstrates an average infection rate in the range of 80–84%.
Currently, the variety is practically not used in intensive commercial production. It is maintained in registries mainly as genetic material for scientific purposes and for assessing the aggressiveness of pathogenic microorganisms.
