The breeding line OLER was obtained through repeated self-pollination within a backcrossing program. During its creation, fertility restorer lines and the variety Pervenets, known as a source of the high oleic acid content gene, were used as genetic material.

In scientific research, the line is used to analyze the genetic control of fatty acid biosynthesis and to study the influence of temperature factors on the expression of the high-oleic trait. The line is characterized by homogeneity in morphological traits; however, it is not a commercial hybrid and is not intended for large-scale field cultivation.
