The R 147 line was developed at the Institute of Wheat and Sunflower in General Toshevo. It is used in breeding programs as a pollinator and fertility restorer when working with cytoplasmic male sterility.
This line is characterized by susceptibility to certain diseases and races of broomrape. This served as the basis for the use of R 147 in experimental work using biotechnological methods, such as gamma irradiation, ultrasonic treatment, and embryo culture, to obtain resistant forms.
