The RHA 274 line is a well-known oil-type breeding material. In breeding work, it is used as a fertility restorer for creating sunflower hybrids and serves as an important tool in genetic research, including trait mapping and regeneration from protoplasts.

The plant has a recessive type of branching. A key characteristic of the line is its genetic resistance to downy mildew, due to the presence of specific resistance genes such as Pl2, Pl9, and Pl10. The line is used in experiments studying the inheritance of yield and seed fatty acid composition.
