The hybrid was created at the Research Institute for Cereals and Industrial Crops in Fundulea. Its appearance in the early 1970s marked the beginning of the hybrid sunflower era in global agriculture.
During trials in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the hybrid demonstrated a seed yield of over 3 t/ha and a high oil content. Distinguishing features of the variety included higher lodging resistance compared to other varieties and hybrids of that period.
