The U00S9LM line is a breeding material (germplasm line) created by crossing with wild sunflower species for the introgression of resistance genes. It is registered in the ATCC depository under the number PTA-3793.
The primary purpose of the line is to provide resistance to broomrape (Orobanche cumana) within the framework of "system 1". The protection mechanism consists of preventing the penetration of the parasite's haustoria into the root tissues of the host plant.
