The Zhalon hybrid belongs to the mid-early maturity group with a vegetation period of 102 to 115 days. The plant reaches a height of 170 cm. The head is semi-pendulous, convex, and medium-sized at approximately 25 cm. The seeds are predominantly black, sometimes with grey stripes; the thousand kernel weight is up to 73 g.
The root system is powerful, adapted for moisture uptake from depths of up to 2.5 m. The hybrid possesses high resistance to lodging, Phomopsis, Sclerotinia, and Phoma. The base version is resistant to 5 races of broomrape (A–E), while the Zhalon Grand modification is resistant to 7 races (A–G+). Seed oil content reaches 52%, and protein content is 15–17%.
