The variety is a spring barley that was previously widely used in the malting industry, especially in the UK. In agronomic and genetic literature, it is known as a daughter variety to the Triumph variety and is frequently used in breeding crosses for gene mapping and studying grain quality.
It is characterized by low competitive ability against weeds and susceptibility to early development of powdery mildew. At present, the variety is not a commercial standard and is classified as a historical or reference genotype for studying adaptation to environmental conditions, protein content, and diastatic power.
