The Catrin line is a proanthocyanidin mutant. The absence of these substances in the grain prevents beer haze, which makes such forms significant for the brewing industry.

Studies indicate that induced mutants of this type are often characterized by reduced productivity, increased risk of pre-harvest sprouting, and lower resistance to pathogens compared to the original varieties.
