Barley variety «Christopher» was bred by the Danish breeding company Sejet Planteforædling. The pedigree of the variety is based on crossing the Anakin and Kontiki varieties.
Under field trial conditions without the use of fungicides, the variety demonstrates disease resistance at a level of 6 points out of 9. The plant is susceptible to pathogens such as ramularia (Ramularia collo-cygni), rhynchosporium (Rhynchosporium secalis), net blotch (Helminthosporium teres), and spot blotch (Helminthosporium sativum).
