The Ekonom variety is registered in Austrian classifiers as winter barley. In archival materials of Czechoslovak breeding from the mid-20th century, this name also appears in lists of spring varieties, which may indicate the existence of different lines under this name.
Detailed agronomic descriptions, including morphological plant characteristics and current grain quality indicators, are absent in open sources. Historically, the breeding of this variety was oriented toward improving malting properties.
