The variety is a six-row winter barley obtained by crossing the combination of Carola and LP 6-564. The genetic characteristics of the plant provide a mechanism of adaptation to cold conditions through the accumulation of dehydrins.

The plant possesses specific resistance to barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV) caused by the rym4 gene. The variety was primarily used as a fodder crop and was actively utilized in breeding programs.
