The variety is a spring two-row barley of Czechoslovak origin. In scientific research, it is classified as a landrace and is valuable for the preservation of genetic diversity in gene banks.
During genetic analysis, the variety was identified as the only studied sample possessing a haplotype with high thermostability in the context of the bmy1 gene analysis. The variety is also included in genetic resource collections, where its resistance to powdery mildew was studied.
