The variety is a spring two-row barley with a semi-erect to intermediate tillering type. The plant is characterized by an exceptionally short straw, which ensures high lodging resistance. At the end of flowering, the ears are erect to semi-erect, the awns are longer than the ear and have moderate anthocyanin coloration of the tips.
In terms of maturity, the variety is late-maturing. It performs best when using intensive technologies that require high moisture and fertile soils. The variety is registered as a malting barley, but in Western Canada, it is used mainly as a feed barley due to non-compliance with local malting standards.
