The spring barley variety Lofa is an obsolete breeding material. The plant is characterized by a tendency to lodging when grown on fertile soils, but shows stable yield results on light soils.
The grain of the Lofa variety is distinguished by an increased content of sulfur-containing amino acids, such as cysteine and methionine. Traditionally, this barley was used as a fodder crop for agricultural needs.
