The spring barley variety Neris DS was bred by researchers at the Institute of Agriculture, a branch of the Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry. The starting material for the variety was the breeding line DS 9260-7, which was submitted for state registration trials in 2016.
The main focus of the breeding of this variety is to achieve stable yield indicators and high grain quality. Detailed quantitative characteristics, such as plant height, exact ripening periods, and indicators of resistance to external factors, are not systematized in publicly available publications.
