The spring variety Orbit is historically known in scientific literature and was used in genetic research, in particular for the analysis of resistance to powdery mildew. The variety is characterized by heterogeneity of composition, including lines with different reactions to pathogens.
The modern winter variety KWS Orbit is a high-yielding fodder variety. It possesses pronounced resistance to lodging, as well as resistance to barley yellow mosaic virus.
