Hordeum vulgare L. Barley · Agricultural · bred by SVERIGES UTSÄDESFÖRENING SVALÖF

also searched as: паллас

Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a mutant induced by X-ray irradiation of the parent variety Bonus. It belongs to the erectoides mutant group, which is characterized by a compact ear and a shortened stem.

The key advantage of the variety compared to the original material was increased stem strength, which ensures high resistance to lodging. Under favorable soil conditions, the variety demonstrated high yield.

The variety was susceptible to powdery mildew, viruses, and nematodes. In breeding, Pallas was widely used as a recurrent parent to create differential lines carrying disease resistance genes, and it remains a classic subject of genetic research.
