The variety belongs to the winter development type and is a two-row barley. It is intended for malting purposes and is used in the Italian malting industry. Yields of the variety under trial conditions, in particular in Sicily, ranged from 3 to 4 tons per hectare.
Pariglia is included in the Italian variety testing network for the assessment of grain quality and productivity indicators. The variety is also used in research experiments, including studies of the effect of elevated CO2 concentrations on the development of cereal crops, as a typical representative of two-row barley.
