The barley variety Posavac was created at the Agricultural Institute Osijek in Croatia. Its origin is linked to the crossing of breeding lines Osk.6.59/10-79 and Osk.3.52/2-81.
Detailed morphological traits of the variety and quality characteristics of the grain are absent in open publications. In technical documents and reports of the institute's collection, it is mentioned primarily as a registered variety without a detailed description of agronomic qualities.
