The barley variety «Schiwago» is a spring malting variety obtained by crossing Etzel and RTG Planet. The plant belongs to the deficiens variety, has a semi-erect growth habit and a short-stemmed growth type.
The vegetation period ranges from 72 to 81 days. The variety possesses a well-developed root system, high productive tillering, and lodging resistance. Field trials confirm resistance to helminthosporiosis and loose smut.
The caryopsis is characterized by a large size, the thousand kernel weight varies from 44 to 55 grams. Quality indicators include a protein content of up to 10.5% and wort extract content in the range of 82.5–83.6%.
