The Tafeno variety appears in German agronomic publications and variety descriptive lists. It is a significant object of scientific research in the field of genetics; in particular, it was used in gene editing experiments to eliminate the alkaloid gramine.
In field trials, the variety was studied for resistance to fungal diseases, such as Ramularia collo-cygni. The studies were conducted at different levels of agronomic intensity, including the use of fungicides and plant growth regulators.
