The barley variety Vatonga was bred in 1982. According to genetic database data, it is a hybrid obtained from the cross Vatonga x (Goldfield x Mala Abed).
Detailed morphological and economic characteristics of the variety are absent in open agronomic reference books. The variety is mentioned in historical cereal crop lists; however, data on the assessment of its properties have not been disclosed.
