Variety description

The variety is an upright branched shrub, reaching a height and width of up to 2 meters at maturity. A characteristic feature is the leathery, narrow-oblong, dark burgundy, almost black leaves.
Inflorescences have a yellow-green center and are surrounded by bracts, the color of which changes from light red to reddish-purple, and then fades to golden-yellow. Flowering occurs in the autumn-winter period.
The plant is drought-tolerant, prefers full sun and well-drained soils. Sensitive to excess phosphorus and waterlogging; in protected cultivation, it can be affected by spider mites. The stems are strong and are used for cutting in both fresh and dried forms.
