The variety is a compact shrub reaching a height of 1.2–1.5 meters. The plant has strong upright stems. Flowering occurs in summer and lasts up to 150 days, with inflorescences demonstrating good longevity after cutting.

Flowers have a deep blue shade when grown in slightly acidic soils (pH 4.0–4.5) or in the presence of aluminum in the substrate; under other conditions, the coloration may be pale pink. The plant prefers partial shade or sunny areas with consistently moist, well-drained soil.
