The Mme Auguste Nonin variety belongs to the historical varieties of Hydrangea macrophylla mentioned in nursery catalogs of the 1920s. The plant is characterized by large inflorescences of a pale pink shade.

Modern agronomic descriptions of the variety are absent. Historically, the crop was used as a pot plant suitable for forcing, as well as for planting in sheltered parts of the garden. Like other varieties of this species, the plant presumably requires winter protection and soil acidity control.
