Cultivated forms of Tutsan are semi-evergreen or deciduous shrubs. Plants of this species are valued for the presence of golden-yellow flowers and decorative berry-like capsules that change color as they ripen from red to dark brown or black.

The name Bosacara refers to one of the breeding developments of the company H. & B.R. van den Bosch B.V. Detailed agronomic descriptions and specific morphological characteristics of this variety are absent from open publications.
