The plant belongs to the species Hypericum inodorum and forms an upright, spreading bush. The foliage is dark green.

A key feature of the variety is its fruits, which during the ripening process acquire a dark brown-red, and subsequently a nearly black, shade. The plant has high post-harvest durability.
