The historic Corona variety was obtained by crossing seedlings 79-1082-4 and 79-1164-1. Specific agronomic characteristics of this variety are not described in available materials.

Modern plants under the name Corona belong to the SunPatiens® commercial line, which consists of interspecific New Guinea Impatiens hybrids. They are characterized by high disease resistance, including downy mildew, heat tolerance, and the ability to grow in the sun.
