The plant has a dense, spreading or cushion-shaped crown form. The height of an adult specimen is 5–15 cm with a width of 20–30 cm. The growth rate is very slow, less than 2.5–5 cm per year.
The needles have a bluish-gray shade, and may acquire a purple tone in winter. Young needles are smooth and scale-like; on older branches, they are awl-shaped and sharp.
The variety belongs to USDA hardiness zones 3–8 and possesses resistance to Verticillium wilt. It prefers well-drained soils and full sun or light partial shade, and is drought-tolerant.
