The cultivar is a slow-growing low plant, reaching a height of 10–20 cm by the age of 10 with a crown diameter of 1.25 to 2.4 m. The shoots are tightly pressed to the ground. The scale-like needles are glaucous-blue in summer, changing to purple-plum during the winter period.
The plant is distinguished by high winter hardiness, corresponding to climate zone 3, drought tolerance, and the ability to grow on various soil types provided there is good drainage. The cultivar shows resistance to cedar rust but can be susceptible to typical wilt.
Used exclusively for decorative purposes to create groundcover, decorate rock gardens and alpine slides, as well as to stabilize slopes and prevent soil erosion.
