The variety belongs to the line of double-flowered Kalanchoe produced by A/S Knud Jepsen. The plant has succulent green foliage and large, well-formed purple inflorescences. Breeding products are tested for flowering duration, which is at least 6 weeks for pot forms, as well as for ethylene resistance.

In an English-speaking environment, the term «Flaming Katie» is often used as a common name for the species Kalanchoe blossfeldiana in general, so it is important to distinguish between the official variety and the common name of the decorative species.
