The Ariel variety belongs to the Batavia type. The plant is vigorous, forming a slightly rolled head with a broad thick leaf, and a rounded, closed and compact base. Leaf color is intense green with a bright red border, sometimes described as light with red pigmentation.
The variety is suitable for all-season cultivation in both open field and protected conditions. It possesses resistance to bolting and tip burn, and is characterized by high productivity and plant uniformity. It is undergoing testing for new races of downy mildew.
