The plant forms an open rosette of medium-green leaves with a well-balanced structure, a large number of leaves, and short internodes. The raised base of the rosette helps maintain the cleanliness and health of the plant. The variety is intended for cultivation in the open field, primarily during the spring and autumn periods.
Bonalisa possesses high resistance (HR) to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae, races Bl:29–36, 38–41EU), aphid (Nasonovia ribisnigri, race Nr:0), and tomato bushy stunt virus (TBSV). Intermediate resistance (IR) is noted to lettuce mosaic virus (LMV, race 1) and fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lactucae, races Fol:1, 4).
