The variety forms loose heads with tender leaves of a buttery consistency. It belongs to old breeding varieties and does not possess high resistance to downy mildew, because of which it often acts as a susceptible standard in modern phytopathology.
In laboratory conditions, the variety is widely used for developing tissue regeneration and genetic engineering protocols. In commercial vegetable growing, it has been practically replaced by modern resistant varieties and is used primarily for scientific and breeding purposes.
