Cornouaï RZ belongs to the "red oakleaf" (triple red oakleaf) type. The plant is vigorous, with an intense shiny red leaf color, forms a voluminous rosette, and possesses good growth capacity in cool conditions.
The variety is intended for open field cultivation, distinguished by slow bolting and delayed rosette filling, which allows for flexibility in choosing harvest times. It has high resistance to powdery mildew (Bl: 1–32) and lettuce aphid (Nr: 0), as well as intermediate resistance to lettuce mosaic virus (LMV: 1).
