The variety forms a compact, upright rosette 15–20 cm in height and 25–30 cm in diameter. The leaves are deeply dissected, ruffled, and possess an intense glossy purple-red color. The plant is open-pollinated and is not a hybrid.
Readiness for harvest as whole rosettes occurs 40–56 days after emergence, while leaves for consumption can be harvested by cutting after as little as 2–3 weeks. The variety is resistant to downy mildew and possesses some resistance to bolting; it is recommended for spring and autumn cultivation.
