The variety belongs to the Lollo Rossa type and is characterized by a rounded shape and a dense, closed rosette base, which facilitates harvesting and packaging. The leaves have an intense red color and a finely curled structure.
The plant has a high growth rate and is suitable for cultivation throughout the year, including in protected cultivation during winter. The variety shows resistance to bolting and good field holding.
Mariella has high resistance to downy mildew (races Bl:29–36, 38–41EU) and lettuce aphid (race Nr:0). The product is intended for sale on the fresh market and for use in salad mixes.
