Nicodemus RZ is a mid-season hybrid of the 'Maxi Romaine' type with a growing period of 40–60 days. The plant forms large, dense heads with blistered, dark green leaves. The use of Knox technology provides a delay in browning and pinking of cut areas, which increases the shelf life of the produce.
The variety possesses high resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae, races 29–40EU), tip burn, and bolting. It also has intermediate resistance to lettuce mosaic virus and Fusarium wilt, however, it is susceptible to lettuce aphid. It is intended for open field cultivation and is recommended for the spring-summer growing season.
