The variety belongs to the butterhead type of Lactuca sativa var. capitata. The plants are characterized by a relatively high mass. Intravarietal variability in morphological traits is noted, including leaf shape and the degree of anthocyanin pigmentation, which complicates the unambiguous classification of the sample.
The variety is used in breeding programs as a source of genetic material, in particular for studying resistance to the turnip mosaic virus and Fusarium wilt. In the scientific community, it is also known as sample number k-1248, which is part of genetic collections.
