The variety forms dense heads of regular round or flat-round shape with a compact, closed base. Medium to large plants are characterized by good internal structure and are suitable for long standing in the field, as well as for fresh market and processing.
Salvio is tolerant to high temperatures, slow to bolt, and resistant to tip burn. It possesses high resistance to downy mildew (races Bl:29–41EU), aphids (Nr:0), and mirafiori lettuce big-vein virus. The variety is successfully grown on heavy soils and is suitable for organic farming.
