The Thirza variety is a butterhead lettuce. The medium-sized plant forms a dense head with light or medium green leaves. It is an early to mid-early variety, suitable for cultivation during the spring, summer, and autumn periods.

The plant is resistant to bolting, which allows it to be grown in high-temperature conditions. The variety shows resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae) pathotypes NL 1–7, 10, 11, 13–15 and lettuce mosaic virus.

The variety is suitable for traditional soil cultivation and for hydroponic systems, including deep water culture systems.
