The Yorvik variety was used in breeding programs as a "wild type" to study seed germination mechanisms. During the studies, seed mutagenesis of the variety was carried out to obtain lines adapted to high-temperature conditions.
In late 1990s literature, the variety was mentioned as a butterhead lettuce type suitable for the autumn-winter-spring cultivation cycle. The variety is not represented in modern commercial product catalogs and is used primarily in genetic research.
