Flowers of the Salinas lily variety have a star shape and a diameter of 15–20 cm. The petals have a satin texture and are raspberry-red with a purple sheen; there is a yellow-green base in the center, and spots may be present on the inner side. The stamens are light green with bright golden anthers.

The plant has lanceolate, leathery, dark green leaves. Flowering occurs in mid-summer and lasts for up to three weeks. The variety is characterized by frost resistance down to -29 °C.
