The variety belongs to the early-maturing fiber flax group. A characteristic morphological feature of the plant is its white flowers, which is reflected in its name.

The variety is valued for its high productivity and for the production of high-quality fiber characterized by particular fineness. Baltučiai has traditionally been used as a standard variety in variety trials and research work.

At present, the variety is maintained as part of Lithuania's national plant genetic resources and is used in scientific research, including that related to the study of mutations and the breeding process.
