The variety is a dwarf form with a globose crown, usually grafted onto a standard. The plant is distinguished by very slow growth, reaching a crown diameter of about 2 meters in 15 years; the overall dimensions of the tree are 2–4 meters in height and width. The leaves are typical for the species but smaller in size, and in the autumn period, they acquire a golden-yellow or orange-yellow shade.
The plant possesses winter hardiness down to -30...-35 °C and is resistant to diseases and pests. Planting requires sunny, wind-protected sites with moderately moist, fertile, and slightly acidic soil. Flowering of the variety occurs rarely or requires a long development period, as the plant is valued primarily as an ornamental-foliage form.
