The Lemtal variety belongs to the species Italian ryegrass and is mid-maturing: in the climatic conditions of Belgium, the average flowering date is May 15. The plant is a tall, loose-tufted grass, characterized by a high rate of regrowth after mowing.

The variety has good forage quality indicators and high seed germination energy. It is intended for hay and green fodder production. Currently, Lemtal is considered primarily as a historical breeding standard, inferior to modern tetraploid varieties in growth intensity and complex disease resistance.
