The cultivar is a perennial bunchgrass with a tufted growth habit without the formation of stolons. It has narrow leaf blades 0.2–0.4 cm wide with a characteristic glossy underside of the leaf.

The plant possesses high wear tolerance to trampling and rapid germination. The cultivar is sensitive to extreme temperatures, including drought and intense heat, and may also have limitations in winter hardiness under conditions of severe snowless winters.

When mown, the leaves of the cultivar do not fray, which allows for avoiding a whitish tint of the lawn. The cultivar is distinguished by its dark green color, which has become the benchmark for breeding subsequent generations of Lolium perenne.
