The variety Patriarch (experimental designation PPG-PR 670) was obtained through phenotypic and genotypic selection from the progeny of eight plants tracing back to the genetic material of the varieties Coda, Stellar 3GL, and Rutgers University populations. Pollen from the varieties Alloy, Shield, and the population PL3 was used in the creation process.
The plant belongs to the mid-maturity group. The variety is intended for use as turf cover and demonstrates good indicators of turf density and color. Selection was conducted with targeted focus on increasing resistance to leaf spot.
